Meet The Department Chair

Professor Frank Baginski

Frank Baginski's area of research is nonlinear partial differential equations arising in the theory of elasticity and differential geometry with applications to high-altitude large scientific balloons, inflatable aerodynamic decelerators and deployable structures; other areas of interest include problems in the calculus of variations, pattern formation and bifurcation theory.

Meet Dean Rong

Yongwu Rong
Yongwu RongAssociate Dean for Research and Strategic Initiatives of CCAS and Professor of Mathematics, served as department chair during 2011-2014. Among his numerous contributions, Professor Rong has been a driving force for interdisciplinary collaborations at GW. This has led to the establishment of the George Washington Institute for Mathematical Sciences (GWlMS), the JUMP program and the Data MASTER program, all of which are impacting many students across GW campus.
