Title:Quasipositive braids and plane real or complex curves

Abstract: .A braid is called quasipositive if it is a product of conjugates of the standard generators of the braid group. They naturally appear in the topological study of real or complex, algebraic or pseudoholomorphic curves in the plane. I will discuss this relation and will give a survey of known tests for quasipositivity.
