Title: Double Categories for the Working Graduate Student

Abstract:  Double categories are a generalization of ordinary categories which combine two distinct classes of arrows, sewn together by two-dimensional cells.  In this talk, we provide an introduction to double category theory, with numerous examples (including spans, relations, and modules).  Additionally, we provide an overview of recent work describing how the concept of image factorizations can be extended to the double categorical setting.

Graduate Student Seminar is mandatory for all math graduate students.
