Title: Pattern avoidance in permutations and their cycles
Speaker: Kassie Archer, USNA

Date and time: Tuesday 9/17, 10:30am
Place: Phillips 730

Abstract: The notion of pattern avoidance in permutations has been studied extensively over the last few decades. However, there is still a lot to explore about the structure of these permutations. In this talk, we will highlight some interesting recent results about pattern avoidance in both the one-line and cycle form of a permutation (via the so-called fundamental bijection), and present some open questions and possible future directions of study.
