Abstract: Suppose that G is a connected reductive group over a nonarchimedean local field. The category of all smooth, complex representations of G(F) decomposes into a product of full subcategories. We show that, under reasonable tameness hypotheses, each of these subcategories is equivalent to a category of “depth-zero” representations of a smaller group. Such representations are closely associated to representations of groups over finite fields. (This is joint work with Jessica Fintzen, Kazuma Ohara, and Manish Mishra.)
