Mathjis de Lepper is a visiting graduate student for the Fall from Utrecht University in the Netherlands where his thesis advisor is Karma Dajani (one of our department’s PhDs from several years back). He is working on constructing a continued fraction normal number with respect to the Minkowski question mark measure. The construction is based on the Kepler tree of rational numbers. Takefumi Nosaka did his PhD under supervision of Tomotada Ohtsuki at RIMS at Kyoto University in 2012. Currently he is Assistant Professor at  Department of Mathematics, Tokyo Institute of Technology. He has many nice results in Knot Theory and Quandle Theory and recently published a book: T. Nosaka, Quandles and Topological Pairs: Symmetry, Knots, and Cohomology, SpringerBriefs in Mathematics, November, 2017. He will be visiting our department October 10 to  November 23, 2018. Dr. Xiaolei Zhang is an associate professor from Zhejiang Gongshang University. She earned Ph.D. (2009) in mathematics from Dalian University Of Technology. Her research interests lie in computational geometry, computer-aided and geometric design. Professor Joe Jerome has recently arrived in the department as a visitor after a long, successful career at Northwestern University. He became Professor Emeritus in Fall, 2012. His research interests have included parts of analysis and partial differential equations, with emphasis on applicable analysis and approximation theory.
