Course Rotation Plan

Below we list the current plan for course offerings in Mathematics for the next several years. This is an internal planning document that we make public to help students with their long-range schedule planning. We largely follow this plan, but may make occasional changes (usually additions).

Undergraduate Courses:

We use a two-year (four-semester) rotation plan. The following courses are offered every semester and so are not listed below: 1231, 1232, 2233 ; they are also offered in Summer Session. (Note that credit may not be earned for both Math 2184 and 2185.)

See the Bulletin for the prerequisites for each course. All prospective math majors and minors are strongly encouraged to meet with a departmental advisor early on to plan a course of study.

Math 2991, 4991 and 4995 are available only by special arrangement.

Graduate Courses:

Courses numbered 6000 or above are graduate courses. Course descriptions for all graduate courses are given in the Bulletin.

Some 3000/4000 level courses may be taken for graduate credit, subject to suitable additional work requirements and approval of the student's advisor, the Department Graduate Committee, and the instructor. These courses are Math 3710, 3720, 3730, 3740, 3613, 3632,4239, 4240, 3848, and 4981.

Whenever possible, the Department will offer one additional graduate course on a topic to be determined.
